Softball Recap: Thornton Fractional South Takes a Loss

Thornton Fractional South had lost nine straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-28 to make it ten. They came up short against the Joliet Central Steelmen, falling 20-14. Even if the Red Wolves couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

As for Joliet Central, the win snapped their losing streak at 18 games and leaves them with a 3-28 record. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16th (when they won 17-7).

For Joliet Central's part, they got a massive performance out of Emma Guethle, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Jordynn Poke was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs and three RBI.

Thornton Fractional South does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Joliet Central, they have already played their next match, a 15-0 defeat against Lincoln-Way Central on the 27th.
