Baseball Recap: St. Elizabeth Extends Winning Streak to Nine

St. Elizabeth waltzed into their game on Saturday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Everything went their way against the Camdenton Lakers as they made off with a 7-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Gavin Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Sam Luetkemeyer and Carter Reinkemeyer did most of the damage at the plate: Luetkemeyer went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Reinkemeyer got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Noah Chipman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

St. Elizabeth's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Camdenton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-17.

Coincidentally, St. Elizabeth and Camdenton will both be playing Father Tolton the next time they take the field. The Hornets will host Father Tolton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Lakers will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
