Softball Recap: Jefferson Cougars vs. Spring Mills Cardinals
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Jefferson walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Spring Mills Cardinals 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since April 16th.
Jersey Rummel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Ainsley Phillips was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. LeeAnn Martin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 12-16. As for Spring Mills, their record is now 19-10.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Jefferson is set to face off against their familiar foe Morgantown at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Spring Mills will square off against rival Martinsburg at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
