Basketball Recap: Port Byron Comes Up Short

Port Byron lost against Cato-Meridian back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The match between the Port Byron Panthers and the Cato-Meridian Blue Devils didn't end well, with the Port Byron Panthers falling 64-48. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 700th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 297th).

Port Byron dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Cato-Meridian, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port Byron will host Southern Cayuga at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cato-Meridian, they will welcome Weedsport at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
