Softball Game Preview: Westfield Mustangs vs. Aldine Mustangs

Westfield is 0-5 against Aldine since March of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. Westfield will take on Aldine at 5:00 p.m. Westfield has given up an average of 19.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Westfield is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They lost 16-9 to Nimitz.

Jazmine Leal made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Eloisa Hernandez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Aldine's offense. They came up short against MacArthur on Friday, falling 15-0. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Aldine saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juliana Moctezuma, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

Westfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Aldine, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.

Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Westfield has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .653. However, it's not like Aldine struggles in that department as they've averaged .562. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Westfield suffered a grim 18-6 defeat to Aldine in their previous matchup back in March. Can Westfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
