Basketball Recap: Ignacio Comes Up Short

After flying high against Sargent last Tuesday, Ignacio came back down to earth. The Ignacio Bobcats fell to the Pagosa Springs Pirates 46-40. The loss continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost five in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pagosa Springs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Seth Zeigler, who posted eight points along with 17 rebounds and five assists. The dominant performance gave Zeigler a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Colt Lewis, who scored 14 points and five assists.

Ignacio's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Pagosa Springs, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-9.

Ignacio will face off against Bayfield at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Bayfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season. As for Pagosa Springs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Alamosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pagosa Springs is facing Alamosa at the right time seeing as Alamosa is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
