Basketball Game Preview: Hilltop Christian Chargers vs. Southside Christian Warriors

Hilltop Christian is 7-0 against Southside Christian since November of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Hilltop Christian Chargers will head out to challenge the Southside Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Hilltop Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.3 points per game this season.

Hilltop Christian is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Liberty Christian just ended the team's 11-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 75-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots.

Despite the defeat, Hilltop Christian got top-tier performance from Caleb Manriquez, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards. The game was Manriquez's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Carter Snow was another key player, going 7 of 15 on his way to 16 points and six assists.

Even though they lost, Hilltop Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Southside Christian posted their closest win since January 30, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Raleigh Christian Academy 48-45.

Southside Christian is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. As for Hilltop Christian, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-4.

Everything came up roses for Hilltop Christian against Southside Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 66-21 win. In that game, Hilltop Christian amassed a halftime lead of 50-11, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
