Baseball Recap: Fayetteville-Perry Find Success

Fayetteville-Perry extended their postseason success on Thursday against Newton Local. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Indians. That's two games straight that the Rockets have won by just one run.

AJ Roy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Roy wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Luncan, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Fayetteville-Perry is 3-1 when Luncan posts two or more runs, but 4-14 otherwise. Another was Blake Rugenstein, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Fayetteville-Perry and bumps their season record up to 7-15. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Newton Local, their loss dropped their record down to 16-8.

As of now, neither Fayetteville-Perry nor the Indians have any future games scheduled.
