Volleyball Recap: Meridian Falls to Sandy Creek in First Game of Season

Meridian had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sandy Creek Cougars on Thursday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

While Meridian had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-20.

Jetta Stewart paced Meridian's offense, picking up 15 kills. Stewart got some help from Olivia Schafer and her 14 assists.

Sandy Creek has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Meridian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Blue Hill on the 28th. As for Sandy Creek, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Bruning-Davenport/Shickley on the 2nd.
