Basketball Game Preview: Middle Park Panthers vs. Highland Huskies

Having just played yesterday, the Middle Park Panthers will jump right back in to play the Highland Huskies at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Middle Park is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 66-40 margin over Wiggins. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Highland not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since January 28th. They blew past Colorado Springs Christian 76-47. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Lions are ranked 165th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Highland's win came from a few key players Middle Park will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sawyer Morgan, who almost dropped a triple-double with ten points, ten rebounds, and nine assists. He is becoming a predictor of Highland's success: when he posts at least ten boards the team is 16-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Brogan Palmer, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Highland was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Colorado Springs Christian only one assist.

The victory made it two in a row for Highland and bumps their season record up to 18-6. As for Middle Park, their record is now 19-4.
