Baseball Game Preview: Napoleon Wildcats vs. Wauseon Indians

The Napoleon Wildcats will square off against the Wauseon Indians at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Napoleon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Napoleon's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Perrysburg hitters got past them. The Wildcats came up short against the Yellow Jackets on Friday, falling 10-4. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Napoleon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rowan Bostelman, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double. Another was Paul Sausser, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Wauseon made sure to put some runs up on the board against Edon on Friday. The Indians came out on top against the Bombers by a score of 12-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Indians' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Napoleon's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5-1. As for Wauseon, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.

Everything went Napoleon's way against Wauseon when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Napoleon made off with a 14-4 win. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
