There's no place like home for Kirbyville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Buna Cougars on Friday, sneaking past 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Cougars last Tuesday, they had to take a 5-4 defeat.

Kaden Cloud and Braxton Jacks did most of the damage at the plate: Cloud went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double, while Jacks scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That double marked the first that Cloud hit this season. Another player making a difference was Max Myers, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Kirbyville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. Buna's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-8.

Kirbyville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-1 win against Hardin on the 18th. As for Buna, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-3 victory against Warren on the 18th.
