Basketball Recap: Bertha-Hewitt Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wadena-Deer Creek, Bertha-Hewitt was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 51-50 photo finish over the Sebeka Trojans. This was payback for the Bears, who suffered a 66-58 loss the last time these two teams met.

Despite the defeat, Sebeka saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Max Lake posted 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Kiser, who put up seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Bertha-Hewitt's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Sebeka, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bertha-Hewitt will square off against Ashby at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sebeka, they will face off against Swanville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Swanville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Sebeka likes a good challenge.
