Haxtun has gone 8-2 against Akron recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Fightin' Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Rams at 7:30 p.m. Haxtun is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Haxtun is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Merino, who was ranked 19th at the time (Haxtun was ranked third). The Fightin' Bulldogs blew past the Rams 48-0 on Friday. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Fightin' Bulldogs had established a 42-point advantage.

Colin Cone had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 156 yards and three scores on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 48 yards and one touchdown. Those 156 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Haxtun was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 390 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Haxtun's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Zach Fryrear, Jaxsen Schram, and Corbin Andersen, who each picked up one sack apiece. Coleman Firme was another major factor on D, making 21 total tackles (1.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Akron over Dayspring Christian Academy in every quarter on their way to victory last Friday. The Rams blew past the Eagles 34-8. The 34-point effort marked the Rams' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Haxtun better keep an eye on Jace Curtis. He was instrumental in Akron's win, rushing for 87 yards and one TD, while also throwing for 33 yards and one touchdown. Curtis also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making 11 total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging two interceptions.
Akron didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Curtis and Jax Kusel.
Haxtun's record now sits at 6-0. As for Akron, their record is now 5-0.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Cone and Kolten Randel. Cone just won't slow down this season and has thrown 6 touchdowns while averaging 70 passing yards per game. Randel has been a dominant force too and has thrown 7 touchdowns (and and only 1 picks) while averaging 131.2 passing yards per game.
Haxtun took their win against Akron in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 46-20 score. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Rams' Anderson Filla, who rushed for 125 yards and a pair of scores, and also picked up 52 receiving yards. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Fightin' Bulldogs to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
