Football Recap: Bell Gardens Comes Up Short

Bell Gardens had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 0-3 to make it six. They fell 18-12 to the Cabrillo Jaguars. If the Lancers were looking for revenge after losing 26-6 to the Jaguars when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Cabrillo, they now have a winning record of 2-1. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly six points.

A big part of Cabrillo's win came down to the chemistry between Rhian Abueg and her top target Jessica Gomez. Abueg threw for 49 yards and two TDs while Gomez picked up 39 receiving yards and a pair of scores. What's more, Gomez posted two receiving touchdowns, the most she's had since back in August of 2024.

Looking ahead, Bell Gardens will square off against Paramount at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cabrillo, they will take on St. Anthony at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
