Softball Recap: Mesquite Wildcats vs. Arcadia Titans
Mesquite had lost seven straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-14 to make it eight. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Arcadia Titans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on Tuesday.
Alyiah Durden was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
As for Arcadia, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-8-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games.
On Arcadia's side, Sydney Kelley was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Kelley has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Nassos, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mesquite will take on Thunderbird at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Arcadia, they will challenge Marcos de Niza at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Padres have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.13 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
