Basketball Recap: Oakland-Craig Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Oakland-Craig entered their tilt with Lyons-Decatur Northeast on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They breezed by the Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars to the tune of 62-25. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-8.

Leading Oakland-Craig to victory were Briar Ray and Hilary Ray. Briar went 7 for 13 en route to 21 points along with eight rebounds and five steals, while Hilary posted 12 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals. Briar continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Emma Anderson also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Despite the loss, Lyons-Decatur Northeast still got an impressive performance from Tavyanna Parker, who scored six points and five rebounds.

Oakland-Craig pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Lyons-Decatur Northeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakland-Craig will face off against Tekamah-Herman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tekamah-Herman has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Lyons-Decatur Northeast has already played their next contest (against Wakefield), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
