Recap: Choctaw Yellowjackets vs. Ponca City Wildcats
The Choctaw Yellowjackets won the last time they faced the Ponca City Wildcats, and things went their way on Friday too. Choctaw came out on top against Ponca City by a score of 62-51. Given Choctaw's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Ponca City is ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Ponca City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tay Moore. Despite the final result, he scored 28 points along with six rebounds and five blocks. That was a full 54.9% of Ponca City's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Kreisel, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Choctaw's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Ponca City, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Choctaw will take on Jenks at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ponca City, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Southmoore at 8:00 p.m.
