Softball Game Preview: West Greene Pioneers vs. Bethlehem Center Bulldogs

The West Greene Pioneers will head out on the road to challenge the Bethlehem Center Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Greene is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

West Greene barely beat Jefferson-Morgan the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pioneers never let the Rockets get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won five games by nine runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Payton Gilbert's shutout, as she gave up just a hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kendra Tharp, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Marissa Tharp was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Bethlehem Center's offense. They came up short against Carmichaels on Monday, falling 15-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

West Greene's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Bethlehem Center, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

West Greene beat Bethlehem Center 8-5 in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
