Basketball Recap: Newman AA Beats Varsity Opponent for Their Fifth Straight Win

Newman AA put another one in the bag on Sunday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 66-52 victory over Varsity Opponent. Give the Cardinals' offense some serious credit: that high-scoring performance was actually the fewest points they've scored all season.

Newman AA got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Philipe NDong out in front who went 6-for-8 on his way to 17 points. Thanks to that strong game, NDong now owns an excellent 50% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenden Mathey, who posted 13 points and eight boards.

Newman AA's victory bumped their record up to 5-0.

Coming up, Varsity Opponent will face off against Miller School of Albemarle at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. Newman AA will be paying especially close attention to Varsity Opponent's matchup: after Varsity Opponent face off against Life Academy, they'll take on Newman AA again at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
