Baseball Recap: Latin Wins Going Away Against Northridge

Latin barely beat Northridge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Romans were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Knights on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Romans, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Drew Lufrano was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lufrano was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three).

Lufrano wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Darke, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Latin has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Northridge, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Latin will face off against Lake Forest Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in the Romans' favor as the squad sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Caxys have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Northridge, they will take on Northside at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
