Volleyball Recap: Higley Knights vs. Mesquite Wildcats
Higley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mesquite Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2015.
The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Mesquite scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-19.
Despite the loss, Higley still got an impressive performance from Shelby Sluiter, who had 13 digs. Sluiter is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last five games she's played dating back to last season.
Higley's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Mesquite, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-4.
Higley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 1-1 tie against Canyon del Oro on the 4th. Mesquite has also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Arizona College Prep on the 4th.
