Baseball Recap: Marshall County Comes Up Short

Marshall County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Giles County Bobcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 on Monday.

Austin Blackwell made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Tot Gardner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Marshall County's loss dropped their record down to 2-10-1. As for Giles County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-11.

Looking ahead, Marshall County will head out on the road to challenge Hillsboro at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Burros have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Giles County, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Rocket City at 4:30 p.m.
