Softball Recap: Lenoir City Gets the Win

Lenoir City hadn't done well against South-Doyle recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Panthers came out on top against the Cherokees by a score of 4-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 12-8 loss the last time these two teams met.

Rylee Moore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sophie Reed, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kymbal Williams, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Lenoir City's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for South-Doyle, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-5.

Coming up, Lenoir City will face off against Hardin Valley Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for South-Doyle, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Heritage at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
