Baseball Recap: Fort Jennings Gets the Win

Fort Jennings and North Baltimore pushed the score to 18-2 the last time they played North Baltimore, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Musketeers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Tigers. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Musketeers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jarron Swick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Owen Calvelage was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Fort Jennings' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't).

Fort Jennings' victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for North Baltimore, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-9.

As of now, neither Fort Jennings nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
