Basketball Recap: Carl Junction Comes Up Short

Carl Junction was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 69-47 to the West Plains Zizzers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 55-46 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2022.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Plains to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shaylee Peterson, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds. Peterson's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ainsley McWilliams, who went 8-for-12 to rack up 18 points along with five assists and three steals.

Carl Junction's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for West Plains, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Carl Junction will face off against Marshfield at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. As for West Plains, they will head out on the road to take on Hillcrest at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
