Baseball Recap: Vela Find Success

Vela posted their closest victory since March 7, 2025 on Thursday. They never let the Floresville Tigers/Jaguars get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. This was payback for the Sabercats, who suffered a 3-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The result came thanks to Romeo Bautista's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Vela saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Davila, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits Davila has posted since back in March of 2025.

The victory got Vela back to even at 1-1. As for Floresville, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Vela didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-3 defeat against Davenport on the 19th. As for Floresville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Cigarroa on the 19th.
