California School for the Deaf-Riverside is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: El Capitan, who was ranked 17th in their home state at the time (California School for the Deaf-Riverside was ranked 24th). The Cubs took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 44-12 win over the Eagles. The Cubs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 32 points or more this season.

Morgan Hawkins had an outrageously good game as he picked up 131 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Those three receiving touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

California School for the Deaf-Riverside didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gio Visco and Jasper Martinez. Another thorn in El Capitan's side was Jordan Young, who picked up two sacks, forced one fumble, and made five total tackles.

Meanwhile, California School for the Deaf was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Swett, falling 66-40. On the bright side, the 40- point effort marked the Eagles' highest-scoring matchup to date.

The victory made it two in a row for California School for the Deaf-Riverside and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points over those games. As for California School for the Deaf, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything came up roses for California School for the Deaf-Riverside against California School for the Deaf in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 54-0 victory.
