Basketball Game Preview: Colchester Lakers vs. Rutland Raiders

The Colchester Lakers will head out to take on the Rutland Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Colchester is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Colchester heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Friday. They took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Burlington. While losing is never fun, the Lakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Vermont basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Wolves are ranked fifth).

Rutland has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-47 heartbreaker at the hands of Mt. Mansfield.

Colchester's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Rutland, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.

Colchester came up short against Rutland when the teams last played back in March of 2021, falling 51-40. Can Colchester avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
