Baseball Recap: Slater Comes Up Short

Slater's last matchup with Marceline could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Tuesday. Slater came up short against Marceline, falling 8-1. The Wildcats' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row dating back to last season.

Slater saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tristen Klasing, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Klasing is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least two every time he's taken the field this season.

Slater's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Marceline, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Slater Wildcats take on Wellington-Napoleon Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Marceline, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Linn County at 5:00 p.m.
