Soccer Game Preview: Woodcreek vs. Rio Americano

The Woodcreek Timberwolves will challenge the Rio Americano Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Woodcreek will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Woodcreek's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over Ponderosa. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Timberwolves were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Rio Americano unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Vista del Lago by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Eagles are ranked 109th).

Rio Americano now has a losing record at 4-5-2. As for Woodcreek, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2-3 record this season.

Everything went Woodcreek's way against Rio Americano in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as Woodcreek made off with a 5-1 win. Will Woodcreek repeat their success, or does Rio Americano have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
