Baseball Recap: Rising Sun Comes Up Short

Rising Sun had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 9-8 to make it four. They lost 11-3 to the South Dearborn Knights. If the Shiners were looking for revenge after losing 7-6 to the Knights when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Rising Sun saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was D.J. Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for South Dearborn, the victory snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-13 record. The matchup marked their most dominant win of the season.

On South Dearborn's side, Izaak Lozier and Alex Probst made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Lozier pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Probst pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Lozier has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Lozier went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Probst went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Lozier a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bryce Burton and Tyeler Gulden did most of the damage at the plate: Burton went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base, while Gulden got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those two hits gave Burton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryker Morris, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Coming up, Rising Sun will be playing at home against Shawe Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Dearborn, they will head out to face off against Connersville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
