Baseball Game Preview: North Salinas Vikings vs. Harbor Pirates

The North Salinas Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the Harbor Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

North Salinas is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Monte Vista Christian two weeks ago. They lost 12-2 to the Mustangs. The Vikings have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meetings.

North Salinas saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Avina, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. That's the most hits Avina has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Harbor had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Wildcatz. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by just one run.

Harbor's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for North Salinas, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

North Salinas might still be hurting after the 18-2 loss they got from Harbor when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can North Salinas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
