Softball Game Preview: Mountain View Yellowjackets vs. Cave City Cavemen

For the first time this season, Mountain View will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Thursday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cave City Cavemen at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

On Tuesday, everything went Mountain View's way against Marshall as Mountain View made off with a 14-8 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Yellowjackets.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cave City, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Valley Springs a 15-0 shutout on Monday. That looming 15-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cavemen yet this season.

Cave City pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Mountain View took their victory against Cave City in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-4. Will Mountain View repeat their success, or does Cave City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
