Rickie Brown was dynamite on Wednesday, striking out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was his third in a row with less than one earned run. For the season, Brown has an ERA of 4.38 over 32 innings pitched.
Brown's strong effort led Rich Township over Thornwood and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brown has dominated as far as walks are concerned (he's averaged 0.8 per game this season), but he's got his work cut out for him considering Thornwood has only allowed 3.57 per game this season.
