Softball Recap: Belpre Gets the Win

After losing to Trimble the last time they met, Belpre decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Golden Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tomcats on Tuesday, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Eagles have posted since April 17, 2024.

Makayla Carmichael spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lucy Ruble, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Wolfe, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Belpre now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Trimble, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Belpre will head out on the road to take on Warren at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Trimble, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Millersport at 5:15 p.m.
