Softball Recap: Mabton Takes a Loss

Mabton extended their losing streak to nine on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-10 in the process. They lost 21-0 to the River View Panthers. Surprisingly, this marked the Vikings' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

As for River View, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by ten runs or more this season.

For River View's part, Bryanna Denbow made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Denbow has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, River View got a massive performance out of Danika Koch, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Lauren Overstreet was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: River View beat Mabton by a score of 19-0 later that day.
