The Real Life Christian Academy Raptors will take on the Legacy Charter Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Real Life Christian Academy barely beat Altamonte Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Raptors were the clear victors by a 29-1 margin over the Eagles on Tuesday. The Raptors haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Charlee Griner made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Griner was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Real Life Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Hannah Kirton, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That home run was Kirton's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rylee Lyon, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Real Life Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .944. They are a perfect 15-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. Legacy Charter put the hurt on Edgewater with a sharp 23-10 win. Legacy Charter's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like Real Life Christian Academy, Legacy Charter also got a great game from a two-way player: Stefanie Donahey. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). Donahey has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Legacy Charter let Chasity Sepulveda and Brooklynn Kowal run wild. Sepulveda scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances, while Kowal scored four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those two runs gave Sepulveda a new career-high. Lillian Mimler was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Real Life Christian Academy pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.8 runs over those games. As for Legacy Charter, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6.
Legacy Charter's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Real Life Christian Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .509. It's a different story for Legacy Charter, though, as they've only averaged .241. Will they be able to contain Real Life Christian Academy's hitters?
