Basketball Game Preview: Zuni Thunderbirds vs. Newcomb Skyhawks

The Zuni Thunderbirds will face off against the Newcomb Skyhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Zuni came up short against Tohatchi on Friday, falling 80-55. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Cougars are ranked 25th).

Meanwhile, Newcomb was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were outmatched by Navajo Prep and fell 118-28.

Zuni's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Newcomb, their loss dropped their record down to 6-20.

Zuni beat Newcomb 49-41 when the teams last played on Wednesday. Will Zuni repeat their success, or does Newcomb have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
