Softball Recap: Richford Comes Up Short

Richford made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Blue Mountain, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Rockets fell just short of the Bucks by a score of 5-3 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rockets have suffered since April 17, 2025.

Sophia Derby made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Maddie Combs also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Richford's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Blue Mountain, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Coming up, Richford is taking a road trip to challenge Paine Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Blue Mountain, they will be playing at home against Winooski at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
