Vestaburg and Montabella are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Wolverines will venture away from home to take on the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vestaburg will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

While Vestaburg's win against Coleman wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolverines narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Comets 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted since May 17, 2024.

Sasha Page spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Vestaburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Myers, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Montabella was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They lost 12-1 to Carson City-Crystal. The Mustangs have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Vestaburg's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 8.6 runs thus far. As for Montabella, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Vestaburg took their win against Montabella in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
