Basketball Recap: Elliot Christian Comes Up Short

Elliot Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 102-37 loss at the hands of the Highlands Scots.

Despite the defeat, Elliot Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bryant Byrd posted 11 points. James Lappe was another key player, putting up seven points.

Highlands' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaxson Johnson led the charge by shooting 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double with 16 points and 11 assists. Johnson is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Thomas Powell, who shot 80% from the field on his way to 22 points and seven rebounds.

Elliot Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Highlands, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Elliot Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-33 defeat against Forest Lake Christian on the 6th. As for Highlands, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-30 victory against Stockton Christian on the 6th.
