Recap: Winslow Bulldogs vs. Payson Longhorns
The Winslow Bulldogs's six-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They came out on top against Payson by a score of 45-36. That's another feather in the cap for Winslow, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Winslow can attribute much of their success to Jauslyn Nells, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nells has scored all season. Kaitlyn Belone was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six assists and five steals.
Payson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hannah Sarnowski, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Lizzy White, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Winslow's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Payson, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winslow will take on Show Low at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Show Low will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Payson won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Crismon at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Crismon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Payson is ranked 73rd).
