Basketball Recap: Avon Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Avon faced off against Westport on Thursday. The Avon Panthers had to suffer through a 47-19 loss at the hands of the Westport Wildcats. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-6.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Uwa Idada, who posted seven points in addition to 12 boards and six blocks. Idada is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Pierre-Louis, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Avon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Westport, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Avon will be playing in front of their home fans against Atlantis at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Westport has already played their next match (against Lexington), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
