Mt. Blue and Lewiston are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Cougars will take on the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mt. Blue has three straight wins, Lewiston has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Mt. Blue lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Edward Little, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's contest. The Cougars put the hurt on the Red Eddies with a sharp 17-7 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Karter Meader made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Meader was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Parker Smith, who went 2-for-4 with four runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Oliver Cormier, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI and one run.

Mt. Blue kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Lewiston lost 14-2 to Oxford Hills on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Blue Devils have lost by exactly 12 runs.

Lewiston's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Mt. Blue, their record is now 5-2.

Everything went Mt. Blue's way against Lewiston when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Mt. Blue made off with a 16-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
