Basketball Recap: Big Valley Skates Past Butte Valley with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Big Valley). They claimed a resounding 62-31 win over the Butte Valley Bulldogs. The Cardinals pushed the score to 58-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.

Big Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Juan Flores out in front who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points along with five boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Flores a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josue Barba, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Big Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win (which was Big Valley's third in a row) raised their record to 4-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Butte Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

After both having extra time off, Big Valley and Burney will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 6:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Butte Valley, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hoopa Valley at 1:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
