Baseball Recap: Skowhegan Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Skowhegan and Hampden, and Hampden kept the tradition alive. The River Hawks took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Broncos on Wednesday. The River Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Broncos apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Skowhegan saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Austin, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Skowhegan has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Hampden, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Skowhegan will face off against rival Mt. Blue at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Hampden is set to take on their familiar foe Bangor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Broncos 2.9, the Rams 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
