Basketball Recap: Leto Comes Up Short

Leto lost against Newsome back in December of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The contest between the Leto Falcons and the Newsome Wolves didn't end well, with the Leto Falcons falling 64-46. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 529th, while the Wolves are ranked 76th).

When it comes to explaining why Leto lost, don't look at Damian Gobea. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. That's the most points Gobea has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakobe Bruton, who posted 11 points.

Leto's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Newsome, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 20-1.

Leto wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-54 defeat against Armwood on the 22nd. Newsome has also already played their next matchup, a 68-57 loss against Lake Gibson on the 22nd.
