Volleyball Recap: Holt Indians vs. Winfield Warriors
If Holt was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of St. Charles West on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Indians fell 3-1 to the Winfield Warriors on Thursday. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
While Holt had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 21 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-21, 22-25, 25-22.
Despite the loss, Holt still got an impressive performance from Hailey Yeager, who had 18 digs and two aces. Those aces were Yeager's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameran Ebert, who had 17 digs.
Holt's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-2. As for Winfield, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holt will head out to challenge Timberland at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Winfield, they will venture away from home to take on Seckman at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.
