Basketball Recap: Grand Junction Comes Up Short

Grand Junction lost against Durango back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Grand Junction Tigers were beaten by the Durango Demons 57-26. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Demons are ranked 32nd).

It was another big night for Claire Goodwin, who went 5 for 11 en route to 17 points and six steals for Durango. Another player making a difference was Jaelyn Alston, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 11 points.

Grand Junction has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Durango, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Grand Junction Tigers duke it out with the Fruita Monument Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Fruita Monument will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Grand Junction surely won't give up without a fight. Durango has already played their next game (against Grand Junction Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
